Implantology for Missing Individual Teeth
Single Tooth Implants – Replacing Individual Missing Teeth in Los Angeles
Single Tooth Implants – Single tooth implant restoration is a fixed dental prosthesis typically used after the loss of a tooth due to illness or injury. Single tooth replacement accounts for approximately 10-20% of all implant cases. For a lasting replacement of a damaged single tooth, a dental implant with a ceramic crown is recommended. This implant closely resembles the original tooth in terms of natural appearance and functionality. The approach may vary depending on the individual circumstances.
Immediate Implantation
Immediately following a tooth extraction, the implant is placed in the socket and, if necessary, provided with a temporary crown. Once the surrounding soft tissue has healed, the final restoration with a crown can be completed.
Late Implantation
If tooth loss occurred some time ago, it is referred to as late implantation. In this case, bone resorption has often occurred, so that bone augmentation may need to be performed simultaneously with the implantation. In some cases, bone resorption is so advanced that bone augmentation must begin in a separate session before the planned implantation.
Delayed Immediate Implantation
If the removed tooth was located in the area of inflamed tissue, implantation is not performed in the same treatment session but rather after the inflammation has healed. The dental implant can typically be placed four to six weeks later.
